Documentation Week

Preparing for Viva Voce

Its the last push! This week, I spent the time documenting my work, and reprinting publications as part of my setup. It was also the last class we had together as an atelier, which felt bittersweet. All the best to everyone for the final stretch!

From Open Studios to Viva, I thought about how I wanted to show each prototype; and for Intimate Acoustics, I realised that it was not plausible to stick vinyl footprints on the floor (like I did for Open Studios). Hence, I decided to turn to vinyl letters instead, sticking the words "Lean in to listen", "Come closer to listen" on top of each of the boxes, so that one is guided to come closer to the set up in a more subtle way.

Thank you to Jeremy for his help in assisting me with sticking the letters on :D

For the final Viva setup, I initially decided on a layered table setup, where I had two tables and one pedestal. However, after testing out the setup, it felt a little cramped, and there was an odd spacing at the end. Hence, I decided to go with a more linear setup, with the two tables spread out on the sides of the pedestal, so it formed one long row. This way, the flow of the artefacts felt more natural, and there was a better balance of space.

Final Viva Setup

For the final set up, all three prototypes - outcomes from the Soundwalk, the Intimate Acoustics setup, and one part of Vibrational Ground is displayed. The soundwalk outcomes and one Vibrational platform is placed on the left, while the Intimate Acoustics setup is placed on the far right. This mimics the flow of where I'll begin for my presentation, starting from the soundwalk, followed by Vibrational Ground, and ending with Intimate Acoustics. The concept video will be played on loop during the presentation.

This is it! Wish me luck for Viva Voce, I guess :D
